"Caffè Fiaschetteria Italiana 1888" was founded by Ferruccio Biondi Santi, the inventor of the Brunello wine. Fondly known as "Florian" in Montalcino, the café is a lovely example of Italian Art Deco, featuring period red-velvet sofas, long mirrors, tables in yellow marble, delicate display cases.

A proud member of the association of "Historic Cafés of Italy," the Caffé has long been the setting for cultural events, wine tastings, and friendly gatherings.
The Caffé's list of famous guests includes Prince Charles of Wales, as well as Prime Ministers like Jean Chretienne of Canada, along with politicians, actors, and Italian and internationally renowned athletes.
Owners Alessandro, Franco and Nadia Pazzaglia emphasize the café's 123 years of history: from its founding by Ferruccio Biondi Santi in Piazza del Mercato (Market Square) in the heart of Montalcino as an elegant and appropriate setting for guests to sample his wine, to its current status as a feather in the cap of the Montalcino community, and a can't-miss stop on the tour of the Brunello region's most famous watering holes. Alessandro is a sommelier, Franco a certified sommelier, and Nadia along with the entire staff including Giuseppe, Roberta, Stefano and Teresa will be happy to have you sample the best and most-prized selections of Brunello di Montalcino wine, the great Super Tuscans – first and foremost the Sassicaia – and other excellent Italian and Tuscan wines, as well as an excellent collection of champagnes chosen with our friend Roberto Bellini, the Champagne Ambassador to Italy.
